As the first winter snow starts falling down,
It covers her hair with a crystal crown.
Sparkling white diamonds covering her clothes,
Bring pink to her cheeks, and rose to her nose.

The world seems to stop, as she passes it by,
The whistling wind croons to the sky.
The roads are all quiet, the businesses closed
The park, like a picture, is prettily posed.

Suddenly out come the children with joy,
Laughter and shouts come from each girl and boy.
As three find a sled, and four the best hill,
they slide and they slide, till each has his fill.

The houses are lit, their warmth shining bright,
To neighbors and family who visit this night.
She walks down the lane and watches it all,
Storing memories and smiles to later recall.

Her steps in the snow as she walks up the lane,
Leave the first mark on a pure snowy plain.
A home of her own is waiting ahead,
With family, and fire, and chocolate, and bed.

As the first winter snow starts falling down,
It covers her hair with a crystal crown.
Sparkling white diamonds covering her clothes,
Bring pink to her cheeks, and rose to her nose.

United States
I am currently a law student at the University of Iowa, focusing on International Law, Comparative Law, and Cultural Resource Law. I have a BA in English and a BA in History: International Studies; though history is definitely my favorite. I adore reading and literature; the English BA was more for the fun of it than for a determination of career. I have taken courses in philosophy, religion, government, history, literature, writing, economics, sciences, math, and other topics. Everything from Detective Fiction to Constitutional Law to Islamic Civilization. I would love to actually work with History eventually; although I have finally focused on Korean, Japanese, and Chinese culture and history. I intend to move to somewhere in Asia when I graduate, where I hope to work with some type of International Law.

I enjoy cooking, drawing, painting, writing, photography, etc. However, my favorite things are reading and travel. Since childhood, I’ve read everything I can get my hands on: mysteries, biographies, poetry. . . if it is written, I tend to enjoy it. As for travel, I’ve been to Ireland, Northern Ireland, Korea, Japan, and much of the United States. This summer I intend to study in Japan and Korea; the following fall, I plan to be in Hong Kong, Beijing, or Seoul. My interests are diverse, as is my writing and photography!

There I post a lot of links to interesting articles I find online relating to travel, history, literature, etc. Photo's too!

hello.
i have read your story here. how many siblings do you have?

yes, good people still exist. in my country neighbours may look coldhearted to each other. but in many cases they are good.
when somebody dies or gives birth, colleagues are usually the first who provide help (this is apart from relatives.in my homeland we usualy have many relatives and help each other).

Yes, unfortunately family members here frequently aren't as close as I've noticed in other countries. Perhaps that is why our small towns find it so important to rally around one another in times of trouble. I find our neighbors are often more aware of one another's lives than those elsewhere. You cannot always rely on people having someone else willing to offer assistance. That's why I think it is so important to be good at both: as a family member and as a neighbor. :)
